Coming off a six-game winning streak, the boys varsity soccer team is looking to finish off the season with a winning record. With four tough games left to play in pre-season (New Kent, Menchville, Poquoson and Smithfield), the teams' record of 9-3-0 has room to change. With more practice under their belt, and more experience playing together, the team believes they can come out with three wins.
When asked about how the season is going, Gabe Castro, a junior on the team, stated,"I think in the beginning it was a little rough, but as the season progressed we became a better team and were able to play together really well." The majority of the team is returners, who know the feeling of making it so close to a state title, but not quite getting it. Castro said, "The team goal is making it to the state finals this year, after being upset last year in the semi-finals. I think we have the potential to make it far, and hopefully we will win it all." Regardless of the outcome, Castro said he and the team will be proud of the way they came together this season and how hard they worked day-in and day-out.
