On February 17-19, several students traveled to Norfolk to attend the Old Dominion University Model United Nations Conference. Our student representatives represented Russia, Somalia, and Vietnam in several different committees. Ellin Belz and Erica Kelly won best delegate for the second year in a row for their representation of Russia in the DISEC (Disarmament and International Security Council) committee. Additionally, Ewan Hanson and Grace McKay received a verbal commendation for their work representing Vietnam in the HRC (Human Rights Council).
At the conference, Model UN members expanded their world knowledge while also having fun. Along with proposing plans to fix global issues, it was also a great way to share ideas with students from other local schools.
