Nintendo is Switching Things Up

The Nintendo Switch, a new console by Nintendo, launched March 3 to the overwhelming excitement from young and new fans alike. This groundbreaking new system boasts new ways to play on the go and with friends. This sets the Switch apart from Microsoft and Sony’s more powerful hardware. All major on-line retailers have been selling out of the console since its launch, due to popular demand.

After very intense playing sessions with the Switch’s main launch title “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” the Switch held up very well and seemed capable of taking everyday wear and tear. The most popular feature with casual players, however, has to be the breakaway controllers, referred to as “joy-cons”. These revolutionary controllers can detach from the system and be used as their own separate controllers. This means the player can hand one to a friend and both can play the game.

This combination of portability and cooperative functionality make this a wholly unique console for the casual gamer. There are not very many titles available at the moment but Nintendo has many exciting titles coming soon, such as "Arms," "Mario Kart," and "Splatoon." All in all, the Nintendo Switch shows potential and if Nintendo plays their cards right, the Switch could revolutionize console gaming.
