Tom Brokaw had a Wonderful Life Until It Suddenly went Downhill

A Journalist’s Fight with Cancer Brings It All into Perspective

Tom Brokaw is known as an American TV journalist, author who began his career in 1960, he began his career at NBC in 1966, and is currently still employed there. The journalist has covered many world-wide and national phenomenon’s such as the challenger disaster, EDSA Revolution, Loma Prieta earthquake, Fall of the Berlin Wall, Hurricane Andrew, and 9/11.

Brokaw was living his life to the fullest by hiking, biking and fishing around the world. For years, Brokaw had dealt with back pain and thought it was because of his many outdoor activities. Brokaw was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in August 2013.

Multiple myeloma is a treatable but incurable form of blood cancer. For months Brokaw told the media there was nothing wrong with him, and that he just had severe back pain. After months, of treatment when Brokaw was in remission he began to open up about the battle with multiple myeloma. The author released his most recent book in May 2015, called A lucky Life Interrupted which explains the difficulties Brokaw and his family went through. Brokaw is still battling Multiple Myeloma, but continues to still bike, hike, fish, and cover important stories for NBC News.
