A movie review of Disney’s Moana
A family movie that enthralls all with moments of laughter, friendship, and following your heart, Moana is Disney's newest blockbuster. Moana stars Auli'I Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson in the lead roles of Moana and Maui. The movie features All-Star guests, such as, former Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu, Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, and Hamilton star Phillipa Soo.
Like all Disney movies, Moana's soundtrack is composed in a way that leaves a lasting impact. The soundtrack was created by the infamous Lin- Manuel Miranda. It is composed of fourteen songs, featuring lyrics that emphasize discovering who you are, as well as twenty-four instrumental pieces. Lin-Manuel, before becoming the mastermind behind Moana, wrote the star-studded musical, Hamilton, detailing the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton that grossed close to two million dollars per week.
Moana is Disney’s first attempt at a princess without a prince, and gives young boys and girls a new role model to look to when it comes to independence. This movie takes you through the journey of Moana's island, Motunui, and what she must do to protect it and her people. The movie demonstrates Moana’s courage against her enemies through perseverance and determination.
