Jazz Band Jams Out At Newport News/Williamsburg Airport

The Jazz Band traveled to the Newport News/Williamsburg Airport to play holiday tunes for those preparing to board flights. The band played classic charts such as "Christmas Island," as well as a rendition of "Jingle Bells." The school's band director, Mr. Lawson, stated that, "The students should be really proud of the way they play, because it's not everyday or every performance that you cause people who are going about their busy day to stop what they are doing and give you a listen."

The Jazz Band drew quite a crowd for their midday concert at the airport. Each of the students were able to showcase their talents and have fun performing. Andy Taminger, a senior trombone player, commented that, "Jazz band is the greatest organization at Tabb High. The kids are awesome, the teacher is the best, and the things we do promote a sense of what Tabb High is meant to be in this community and society. Band is grand!"

The jazz performance was a great success in bringing holiday cheer to those getting ready to prepare for their flights or those getting off their flights. The band was definitely inspiring too, as following the performance a little boy walked up to the drum kit and showcased excitement for band by hitting on the drums, yielding his very own pair of drumsticks.
