One Acts Steal the Show

On October 20, the drama class put on the annual One Acts show. There were three plays performed, Bad Auditions By Bad Actors script written by Ian McWethy, Please Have a Seat and Someone Will be With You script written by Garth Wingfield, and The First Rehearsal script written by Peter Appleton.

The first play, directed by Ashley Muhich and Logan Penland, is about a casting director holding auditions for the lead role in a community theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet, but the actors give less than stellar auditions. Through the performance, these auditioning actors continue to get more outlandish.

The second play, Please Have a Seat and Someone Will be With You Shortly, directed by Kate Colgan and Grace Fotis, is about a man named Albert and a woman named Sue, in a waiting room at a doctor's office, talking about life. They continue to discuss what they think of what the other does with their life, until Sue admits she has a boyfriend and leaves for her appointment.

The final play, The First Rehearsal, directed by Ryne Cohenour and Eric Cook, is about a cast of actors who are unprepared for their titular first rehearsal.

Throughout the duration of One Acts, judges sat in the audience to evaluate the performances, and the decision was made that Bad Auditions By Bad Actors would be moving on to the conference of Bay River Plays on Saturday, October 29. If the play wins at the conference, the One Act play representing the school will move on to Regionals.
