Spirit Week Kicks Off a New School Year

For many years, the school has had a spirit week to get the students excited for homecoming, holidays, and exams. On Monday, the theme was 'Flower vs. Power,' meaning either dress up as a business person or a hippie. Tuesday was 'TV Tuesday', when students dressed up as their favorite characters either by themselves or with a group of friends. Wednesday was 'Workout Wednesday' and Thursday was 'Season Switcheroo.' Season Switcheroo Day was the day to wear a combination of clothes from assorted holidays. The final day of Spirit Week was 'Big Orange Day,' where students and teachers wore all orange. At the end of the pep rally, seniors were awarded the "spirit stick" for most loud/spirited class.

Along with spirit week and the pep rally, homecoming walls for each class were designed and decorated. This year the SCA chose "Olympics" as the theme for the walls. Seniors usually go "all out" and try the hardest to win the spirit stick in the pep rally, have the best homecoming wall, and have the most outgoing outfits for each spirit day. Spirit week gives school a fun twist, a chance for groups of friends to take pictures everyday, and begin to excite the students for the rest of the year.
