Cross Country starts the season off strong
With three races already behind them, the cross country team is off to an excellent start. In the first meet at Tabb the girls came in 2nd, while the boys came in 4th. In preparation for the eleven races left, the team practices everyday, running an average of six miles a day. It all depends on the workout. During the season, the team eats a lot of pasta (to keep the team's energy up) due to all the team dinners and drinks a lot of water.
In an interview with Emily Brown, Senior, her favorite things about cross country are, "...running long distance and I love the feeling of accomplishment after I finish a race with a good time." Brown said her favorite trail is the Noland Trail, because it is scenic and shady. When asked if she had any goals for the season, Brown said, "I would like to run a 5k in under twenty minutes." This goal is definitely feasible with all of the effort she and the team have put in.
